The Auburn University Modeling Board has been a respected, student-led organization for quite some time. The Board is led by a group of six elected officers and run with the help of student models, stylists, directors, and photographers. The organization has become home to 50 aspiring models, as well as countless members of their creative crew consisting of photographers, directors, and stylists. The AU Modeling Board consistently prides itself on inclusion and diversity. As one of the most diverse campus organizations, the board strives to make everyone feel welcome no matter who they are or what they look like. President, Carson Vines, explains his values of the board, saying, “I pride the modeling board on being not only a diverse organization but being a welcoming family. Me and other models alike feel comfortable and surrounded by a positive group. I love everyone’s differences and unique ways of expressing creativity. My main goal is to keep that environment and continue to inspire creativity.”

If you know anything about college football, then you know that college towns are some of America’s most special places. They hold decades-long traditions and overflow with charm and effervescent passion. Each place has a culture that is unique in its own way, yet not totally unlike the special feeling Auburn fans encounter in Jordan-Hare. Nothing beats the dreaded mid-semester slump or a boring weekend than traveling to watch our beloved team play at another school. I had the opportunity to travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to watch our Tigers play the Razorbacks on Oct.16, 2021. Though my away-game experience is limited, I wanted to share my experience and offer a few tips for your next away game trip.

At the start of the spring semester, Auburn students and staff received an email allowing them to request the COVID-19 vaccine. The purpose of the form is to prioritize individuals who may be at a higher risk for contracting the virus due to factors such as age and health, but everyone is encouraged to register to receive the vaccine. This virus has undeniably altered the way Auburn University conducts its operations as many classes have moved online and students must follow social distancing and mask-wearing protocols. As a precaution, in-person classes must meet at 50% capacity with facial coverings as Auburn University adheres to local and state guidelines.

Projects and theses are things that an Auburn senior is all too familiar with. Though they can be daunting, these required assignments provide hands-on experience in all different career fields. They allow students to explore and apply their passions, develop critical thinking skills and create new ideas. These five Auburn seniors from across campus have learned that, by culminating academic experiences through a project, students can be more prepared for the demands of the job market and graduate schools.

As the fall semester drew to an end and classes began winding down, students eagerly awaited winter break for various reasons. Some looked forward to relaxing while others had their eyes on professional experiences, volunteer opportunities or traveling to see athletic events. On campus, the dorms began to lock entry access requiring students to locate elsewhere during the break. Winter break is roughly a month and encompasses many holidays, both religious and secular. Some students fed off the idea that “there’s no place like home for the holidays” so they traveled to see family and friends while others traveled back to their hometowns or to visit extended family. For many, the holidays can be a time to reconnect with extended family.

For those who have graduated from Auburn and returned to campus, the Auburn that they knew so well is not exactly the same when they return. Buildings get torn down and new ones take their places. Locations where memories of an everyday lunch spot or a favorite study nook are replaced by remodeled interiors, brand new buildings, and updated landscapes. Despite all of these changes, no one ever feels that Auburn itself is changing, partly because of the way facilities management prioritizes maintaining campus tradition while modernizing learning spaces.
